A New Standard of Pellets?

Updated: Oct 7, 2023

Across the UK Airgun ammo industry has stood two giants; JSB and H&N.

These two have stood unopposed as being the big names in the business with their moulds being responsible for other brands pellets such as BSA, Air Arms, Daystate, FX, Webley, Accupell, Weihrauch and Bisley. All of which use either/both to manufacture their pellets under their own branding.

Now a new name is creeping onto the scene, unlike larger companies, these guys do not have a large marketing opportunity, nor do they pay brand ambassadors to promote their product. They are working their way into the market with quality and word of mouth alone!

You may have heard about them from your local shooting range as being "The best .177 pellets on the market"*. We have heard this as well so we have sourced a selection to see for ourselves.

*Now we will preface this with a bit of a disclaimer, as with our post regarding airgun performance we want to make it absolutely clear that in no way are we saying "These are the best pellets on the market" because as we are sure you will know, every barrel has its favourite pellet. There is no such thing as "the best pellet".

So who are these elusive pellet manufacturers you ask? Well, they are known as the manufacturer of Olympic grade pellets where their shooters secured outstanding medal tallies in every Olympic Games since the 2000 Sydney Games.

A staggering total of 10 Golds, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze as well as scores of medals in World Cup events for both rifles and pistols.

Now Distributed in Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, America, Canada, Russia, India, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Australia, South Africa and 20 other countries These super-accurate pellets deserve to be better known and more widely distributed to the UK trade.

QYS only manufacture a hand full of models of pellets, meaning quality control can be kept high, and prices low as the cost of multiple mould machines making various styles of pellets drive overheads up!.

At present, the most popular models of QYS is the good old Domed style suitable for hybrid shooters and preferable for target shooters and the fast-selling Streamlined pellets that are designed for longer range engagements.

At present QYS are only producing .177 (4.5mm) pellets as this is the Olympic calibre. but they produce slightly various specs of both models, 4.49mm and 4.50mm in standard (8.48gr) and heavy (9.56gr) weights for various disciplines/rifles.

Think we missed something?
