March Staff Picks: Chaos, Comebacks & Questionable Decisions

March is meant to be about madness.
And to be fair, it hasn’t disappointed.
Between illness doing the rounds, an unfortunate loss in the family, someone finding a screw in the road the hard way, our Air Compressor needing servicing, and even a wedding thrown in for good measure… It’s been one of those months.
So yes, March Madness is alive and well.
Despite all that, we still did what we always do, asked the team what they’d actually spend their own money on.
Let’s get into it.
Tee’s Pick: AGT Vixen 2 Carbine PCP Air Rifle
We’re fairly certain Tee has picked this before. Are we going to check? No.
At this point, her loyalty to AGT borders on brand-ambassador behaviour. If you’ve spent any time on AGT’s social media, you’ve probably already seen her popping up.
But there’s a reason this keeps coming back. The Vixen 2 just works.
Lightweight, compact, and genuinely usable in the real world without feeling like a compromise. It’s one of those rifles that makes a lot of sense the second you pick it up.
So yes, predictable. But also… fair.
Craig’s Pick: Manbily CF Shooting Tripod
Craig has gone practical. Shock.
This is one of those bits of kit that doesn’t try to pretend it’s something it’s not.
It’s not the strongest.
It doesn’t have a fancy fluid head.
It’s not going to impress tripod snobs.
But for the money? It’s actually very usable.
Standing, seated, or even sat on the ground, it does the job without fuss. Lightweight, fairly rugged, and cheap enough that you won’t cry if it gets knocked about.
Craig-approved usually means “boring but effective”. Which, to be fair, is exactly what this is.
Karl’s Pick: FX DRS BuckRail Chassis PCP Air Rifle
Karl’s gone down the “I’m solving a problem I’m fed up of explaining” route.
This isn’t just a rifle pick. It’s a statement.
The FX DRS paired with the BuckRail chassis is something we’ve been helping customers piece together for a while. And apparently, Karl has had enough of explaining how to do it after the fact.
So now… it’s just done for you. Built, assembled, ready to go. No guesswork. No “did I order the right bits?” moments.
It’s a clean, modern setup that actually makes the DRS platform feel complete. And more importantly, it saves Karl from repeating himself 20 times a week.
Everyone wins.
Luke’s Pick: Walther RM8 Beech Regulated PCP Air Rifle
This one’s interesting.
A few years ago, Luke wouldn’t have even considered this. Not because it wasn’t good, but because it wasn’t cheap enough to justify over other options.
Now? That’s changed.
With the recent price drop, the RM8 has quietly become one of the most compelling sub-£500 PCP rifles out there.
Yes, it’s still a bit heavy.Yes, it’s still running dovetail instead of Picatinny.
But you also get:
Proper accuracy
A solid rotary magazine
A platform that just works
At this price point, those downsides suddenly matter a lot less. It’s one of those rifles that’s become far more attractive purely because the value has shifted massively in its favour.
Luke’s finally come around.
About time.
Final Thoughts
March has been messy. But the picks? Surprisingly sensible.
There’s a clear theme this month, value that actually delivers. Not just cheap for the sake of it, but gear that earns its place without draining your bank account.
Even if some of the choices are… let’s say, a bit repetitive. We’ll let Tee off the hook. This time.
Who do you think had the best staff pick?
Tee’s Pick: AGT Vixen 2 Carbine PCP Air Rifle
Craig’s Pick: Manbily CF Shooting Tripod
Karl’s Pick: FX DRS BuckRail Chassis PCP Air Rifle
Luke’s Pick: Walther RM8 Beech Regulated PCP Air Rifle
