UMAREX ZELOS Bullpup Regulated PCP Air Rifle

The UMAREX ZELOS is an interesting rifle because it arrives carrying some fairly big expectations. UMAREX have positioned it as the successor to the Walther Reign platform, a rifle that built a loyal following thanks to its excellent handling, strong performance and surprisingly good value for money. What the ZELOS does offer is a modern regulated bullpup packed with features that many shooters expect as standard in 2026. Looking closely, experienced shooters may recognise the platform immediately. Underneath the UMAREX branding sits the foundation of the Snowpeak M60, a rifle that first appeared several years ago before quietly fading into the background. Rather than developing an entirely new platform from scratch, UMAREX have taken that existing design and addressed several of the biggest complaints shooters had with it.
 
The first improvement is the filling system. Gone is the awkward fill probe arrangement of the original M60. In its place sits a front-mounted Foster QD fitting, making the rifle compatible with the filling equipment most shooters already own. The pressure gauge has also been relocated to the side of the action where it can actually be viewed without feeling like you're trying to look down the barrel.
 
The second major improvement is at the muzzle. One of the biggest frustrations surrounding the original platform was suppressor compatibility. While it technically had a threaded muzzle, very few people could confidently identify the thread specification and even fewer silencers fitted correctly. UMAREX have solved that issue by fitting a standard 1/2" UNF thread, opening up compatibility with the vast majority of airgun moderators on the market.
 
Regulated PCP Powerplant
The ZELOS features a regulator as standard, helping deliver improved shot-to-shot consistency and making better use of the available air supply. Combined with the generous 250cc cylinder and 250 BAR fill pressure, shooters can expect approximately 160 shots per fill.
 
Modern Bullpup Layout
Unlike many budget bullpups that are essentially conventional rifles dropped into a shortened stock, the ZELOS was designed from the outset as a bullpup. This helps keep overall length compact while maintaining a full-length 680mm barrel.
 
Foster QD Filling System
The move to a Foster quick-disconnect fitting is one of the most welcome upgrades. Filling equipment compatibility is vastly improved and the process is considerably simpler than older probe-based systems.
 
1/2" UNF Moderator Compatibility
UMAREX have finally given the platform a thread standard that the wider shooting world actually uses. Adding a moderator is now straightforward and no longer requires guesswork or custom adapters.
 
Picatinny Rail System
Both optics and accessories mount directly to Picatinny rails, making it easy to fit scopes, night vision, bipods, torches and other modern shooting accessories.
 
One of the more unusual aspects of the ZELOS is its magazine system. The rifle uses a large rotary magazine with a distinctive doughnut-style design. When the rifle is cocked, the hammer retracts clear of the magazine well, allowing the magazine to be inserted before the side lever chambers the pellet.
 
It's certainly unconventional, but it achieves two goals. Firstly, it helps keep the rear action compact, which is important on a bullpup. Secondly, it allows for very high magazine capacities while maintaining a relatively slim action profile. The magazines also feature a lock-open style design, preventing incorrectly loaded or empty magazines from being inserted and potentially causing feeding issues.
 
The reality is that the ZELOS sits in an interesting part of the market. While an RRP around £775 isn't exactly pocket change, within the PCP world it still falls into the more affordable end of the regulated bullpup category. That's particularly true when you consider what is included as standard: a regulator, side lever action, Foster filling, Picatinny rails, moderator compatibility, large magazines and a substantial shot count.
 
It doesn't offer the refinement, adjustability or prestige of some premium European bullpups costing significantly more, but it doesn't really pretend to. Instead, it delivers a practical feature set at a price point that remains accessible compared with many modern alternatives.

Who Is The ZELOS For?
The ZELOS makes the most sense for shooters looking for their first regulated bullpup or those wanting a feature-rich PCP without immediately crossing into 4-figure price territory. It offers modern conveniences that many shooters now expect as standard, while remaining noticeably cheaper than many premium bullpup competitors.
 
No, it probably isn't the spiritual replacement for the Walther Reign that many enthusiasts were hoping for, and that's a difficult act for any rifle to follow. What it is, however, is a practical, well-equipped regulated bullpup that addresses many of the shortcomings of the original M60 platform and packages them under the reassurance of the UMAREX name. For shooters prioritising features and value over prestige branding, that's likely to be enough.
