VIXEN 2: One Week In – What We Got Right, What Surprised Us

Looking for the latest from Airgun Technology in the UK? You’ve found it.

A rifle mounted on a tripod set against a blurred green leafy background. The text "VIXEN 2" is prominently displayed across the image.

The AGT VIXEN 2 is now officially in-stock—and already flying out the door here at Vector Air HQ in Nottinghamshire. If you’ve been waiting, now’s the time. With live online stock and delivery available across most of England and parts of Wales, we’re one of the few UK retailers where you can actually get your hands on a VIXEN 2 without calling around or gambling on backorders.

So, one week in: what have we learned?

✅ The VIXEN Mk1 Really Is Gone

No speculation anymore—the Mk1 has been pulled from AGT’s price list. We knew it was coming, and now it’s confirmed. Still want one? Good luck. Prices on the second-hand market are already climbing past the £1,200 mark in some places. A legendary rifle? Absolutely. But make no mistake: the VIXEN 2 is here to replace it - However, Tee is not giving hers up any time soon.

Foggy graveyard at dawn with a freshly dug grave holding a rifle. Tombstone reads "RIP." Moody atmosphere with bare trees and overcast sky.

🔄 Carbine vs Long – Our Take After Testing

We were sceptical about the new longer barrel length across the variants at first, but after handling the new length carbine It’s balanced better than expected. The metal cage shifts weight a touch forward more than the MK1, but not unreasonably. The Long version, however—is nose-heavy. That said, when we tested the FAC version in .25 with a 34-grain pellet, it was hitting 95J. Serious power so possibly a good compromise for the FAC shooters.

Thinking about Sub-12 ft/lb in .25? It’s not ideal, and we’ve said as much. Still, they all sold out. We know what you’re up to.

💥 Performance So Far – Solid Start

Early feedback from testers (before the cameras rolled) has been positive. The new threaded shroud doesn’t reduce volume drastically, but changes the tone slightly. FAC and sub-12 versions are almost equally quiet—just like the Mk1.

The un-choked CZ barrel is slug-friendly, and while we can’t guarantee accuracy on slugs, the potential’s there. Just watch your power limits.

🔧 Feature Breakdown – What’s Actually New (And Better)

ARCA/M-LOK Handguard

Close-up of the matte black AGT VIXEN 2 rifle shroud with the vented ARCA handguard with M-LOK grooves.

A big upgrade. Feels solid, great for M-LOK accessories (yes, including our APOLLO bipod legs), and works flawlessly on ARCA tripods. PLUS it is backwards compatible with the old VIXEN and URAGAN 2 & 3, meaning you can now retrofit the best rail to your older AGT gun for ARCA and M-LOK!

Threaded Shroud + AGT Liska Silencer

Black Crosshatch pattern AGT VIXEN 2 Liska Silencer on a white background, with text "Airgun Technology" on the front of the silencer.

A welcome move. No adapters are needed. Just screw on and shoot. We would recommend the new LISKA silencer on the VIXEN 2 but they are selling out fast!

Moulded Rear Stock

Black AGT VIXEN 2 rifle stock with textured grip and streamlined design, set against a white background.

Sleek, fixed, and wobble-free. Less adjustable than some might like, but it trims the length of pull to 350mm. Not ideal for taller shooters, but better than it sounds. Just don’t try sliding it back—you’ll expose the anti-slip tape...

Full-Length Picatinny Rail & Open Mag Well

Close-up of a black rifle's upper receiver with "VIXEN 2" text. Features a rail system. Crisp and detailed, monochrome setting.

No more interrupted rails for bolt access. Huge improvement for scope mounting. But beware—depth is reduced, so choose your mounts carefully to avoid blocking the mag well. Speaking of Mag Well... Still there. Still brilliant for single loading. Assuming your fingers are more cocktail sausage than Cumberland.

📏 Real-World Specs (Our Version)

Forget the brochure weights. We weighed them:

  • Carbine: 2.5kg

  • Long: 2.8kg

So unless gravity is lighter in the Czech Republic, we’ve updated the listings to reflect reality.

Carbine Technical Specifications:

  • Calibers: 4.5mm (.177) / 5.5mm (.22) / 6.35mm (.25)

  • Barrel Length: 310mm

  • Overall Length: 803mm

  • Weight: 2.5 kg

  • Fill Pressure: 300 Bar

Long Technical Specifications:

  • Calibers: 4.5mm (.177) / 5.5mm (.22) / 6.35mm (.25)

  • Barrel Length: 500mm

  • Overall Length: 997mm

  • Weight: 2.8 kg

  • Fill Pressure: 300 Bar

🤔 Mk1 vs VIXEN 2 – Still a Debate?

Sure. The Mk1 is lighter, and for some that matters. But the VIXEN 2 brings real upgrades—especially in modularity and accessory mounting. If you’re clinging to a Mk1, fair enough. If you want the latest evolution from Airgun Technology, this is it.

💨 About That First Batch...

Gone. Almost all of them. Even the oddball .25 sub-12s that we warned people about. No, you can’t return it because it’s "not fit for purpose"—we told you. It wasn’t. But at the time of writing, we have just got 4 left... 3...

🧠 Final Thoughts

The VIXEN 2 is pretty much what we hoped: a shooter-led upgrade that modernises the platform without losing the character of the original. We’d still recommend adding your own spin—start with a set of M-LOK rails (see options here) and an ARCA tripod (check availability) to get the most out of it.

Oh, and if you're still searching for Airgun Technology rifles in the UK—well, you’re in the right place. We’re based in Nottinghamshire with live online stock, fast delivery, and honest advice. Can your local RFD say the same?
