UMAREX CO2 12g Capsules for Airgun and Airsoft
UMAREX 12g CO2 capsules are a standard consumable for a huge range of CO2-powered airguns and airsoft guns. These unthreaded capsules are pre-lubricated and ready to install, providing a convenient source of CO2 for compatible pistols, rifles and CO2-powered magazines.
Whether you're plinking in the garden, shooting targets at the range or using a CO2-powered training pistol, having a few spare capsules in the kit is rarely a bad idea.
Compatibility
These standard 12g CO2 capsules are commonly used in:
- CO2-powered air pistols
- Compact CO2 air rifles designed for 12g capsules
- CO2 airsoft pistols and rifles
- CO2 magazines with integrated capsule housings
- Other compatible equipment designed for standard 12g unthreaded capsules
Always check the manufacturer's specifications for your particular gun or magazine before purchasing. Not every CO2-powered product uses the same capsule size or fitting.

Getting the Most from Your CO2 Capsules
CO2 is affected by temperature, pressure and the rate at which it is released, so don't expect every capsule to behave identically in every situation.
Rapid firing causes the capsule to cool as CO2 expands. As the capsule gets colder, pressure can drop and the gun's power and shot performance can decrease. Firing in short bursts and allowing the gun to recover between strings of shots can help maintain more consistent performance.
A capsule used rapidly can also run out considerably sooner than one used for slower, controlled shooting.
CO2 Storage
Store CO2 capsules somewhere cool and dry and away from direct sunlight or other sources of heat.
We recommend using silica drying packs where capsules are stored for longer periods, particularly in damp environments, as moisture can contribute to surface corrosion on the steel capsules.
Do not leave CO2 capsules exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
Once you have finished shooting, CO2 capsules should also be removed from the gun or magazine rather than being left installed indefinitely. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for safely removing a capsule from your particular equipment.
Keep Your CO2 Gun Lubricated
CO2 systems rely on seals and piercing components to keep everything working correctly, and a small amount of suitable lubricant can help protect these components.
For compatible guns, we recommend applying one drop of suitable lubricant to the top of the CO2 capsule before inserting it into the gun. This allows the lubricant to travel through the system as the capsule is pierced and helps keep the piercing nozzle and seals lubricated.
As a general maintenance guide, this can be done approximately every 2-5 capsules, or more frequently if the gun is stored for longer periods between use.
For suitable lubricants, see our:
- Super Lube PTFE lubricant
- Silicone lubricant
Always make sure the lubricant you use is compatible with your particular airgun, seals and the manufacturer's recommendations. Avoid using petroleum-based oils on components or seals where the manufacturer specifies silicone or another suitable lubricant.
A 12g CO2 capsule is hardly complicated, but keeping the capsules dry and giving your CO2 gun's seals a little attention will generally make life considerably easier in the long run.
