Quietly exciting news for fans of classic German engineering with a modern twist. Weihrauch has pulled the sheet back on the HW100X Launch Edition, and yes, it actually looks like they took the sensible parts of the old HW100, kept what worked, and then upgraded the bits that shooters kept quietly grumbling about. We have limited pre-orders open now, so if you’ve been waiting for something Weihrauchy but not entirely stuck in the 20th century, read on.
The short version... Of the long gun

The HW100X is Weihrauch’s polished modern take on the HW100 platform. Expect the same smooth rotary magazine, familiar side lever action and that lovely Weihrauch trigger, but with a smarter regulator, a lighter aluminium cylinder, better shot count and practical modern kit like Picatinny and M-LOK. We have pre-orders live. We are allocating just 10 of each calibre to pre-orders, and you can add scopes with the usual 25% Vector Optics discount while the rifle is in your basket. Pre-orders will close when we hit our allocation or on 20 November when Weihrauch opens ordering to dealers.
What we know, and what we don’t

Transparency time. Weihrauch’s official materials are thin on the minutiae, and the images we were sent are of the Launch Edition laminate Sporter only. Some bits below are from the brief we received, some are logical guesses based on the info we were given. Weihrauch may tweak small details once production starts. If you like warranties that everything will be identical to the photos, this probably isn’t the launch for you. If you like an honest, well-engineered rifle that actually improves the usable shooting experience, you’re in the right place.
Key highlights
Ultra-efficient regulator fitted into the valve block for consistent pressure delivery and easy access for servicing
250 bar high-grade aluminium cylinder that trims about 360 g off the old HW100S weight
Claimed usable shot count up to around 210 shots per 250 bar fill, depending on calibre, power setting and pellet choice
Launch Edition Sporter laminate stock with adjustable cheekpiece and a ventilated cushioning butt pad for comfort
Picatinny top rail for optics and M-LOK under the forend for lights, bipods and accessories
Ambidextrous safety levers fitted on both sides for left and right-handed shooters
Weihrauch moderator fitted as standard
Includes 2 rotary magazines and a fill probe
Specs at a glance (provisional)
Estimated shot count: up to ~210 shots per 250 bar fill (4.5mm example; dependent on settings)
Cylinder: 250 bar aluminium, lighter than the previous steel option
Action: Spring-assisted side lever
Magazine: Weihrauch rotary magazine system
Rail: Picatinny top, M-LOK under forend
Safety: Ambidextrous levers on each side
Moderator: Weihrauch moderator included
Who is this for
If you like Weihrauch handling but want more usable shots between fills, a slightly lighter package for long sessions, and modern mounting options without losing the classic feel, this is aimed at you. Think target shooters, HFT shooters, benchresters, collectors who want a modern classic, and practical shooters who value consistency and simpler service access.
Launch edition notes and variants

The only confirmed images so far are of the full-length Launch Edition in a stunning forest laminate Sporter stock. There is mention of a carbine "K" variant and broader X treatment across the HW100 range, but details are sparse. We hope the M-LOK and adjustable cheekpiece become standard across the range, but we can’t promise that yet. Expect Weihrauch marketing to fill in gaps over the coming days.
Pricing and availability
There is a small RRP increase versus earlier HW100 models (roughly 12% in Weihrauch’s guidance). That’s not ideal if you preferred the older price, but the improved regulator, aluminium cylinder and extra kit probably explain the change. If you do not need the increased shot count or the extra kit, older HW100 examples will likely remain a strong value option in the short term.
Pre-orders are open now. We have limited allocation and will shut pre-orders when our allocation sells out or when Weihrauch opens ordering on 20 November. If you pre-order, don’t forget the “buy a new air rifle and get 25% off Vector Optics scopes” offer by adding scopes and mounts to the basket during checkout.
Final thoughts
Weihrauch has a long history and a reputation for doing things properly. The HW100X looks like an evolution rather than a reinvention. It keeps the handling and feel that made the HW100 popular and gives it modern touches that actually matter for day-to-day use. We’ll be sending our testers and reviewers to it as soon as samples arrive to give a proper, measured verdict, but initial impressions are positive.
If you want one of the limited pre-order slots, act fast. If you want to wait for full production and independent testing, that’s fair too. Either way, it’s nice to see Weihrauch doing something that respects the past while moving forward.
Do you want to see the Launch Edition Features, such as M-LOK and Adjustable Stock, on the following HW100X Variants?
Yes, upgrade them all!
No, I prefer the "poverty spec"
