What Does the One-Way Valve Do?
When filling a cylinder, the pressure inside the cylinder can be significantly higher than the pressure in the compressor and filling line.
 
Without a non-return valve, opening the cylinder valve too early can allow that high-pressure air to rush backwards through the filling line towards the compressor. On suitable compressors, this can contribute to problems such as burst-disc failure.
 
The BEST Fittings one-way valve prevents that reverse flow.
 
Once the compressor pressure reaches the pressure already present in the cylinder, the valve opens automatically and allows the compressor to continue filling the cylinder normally.
 
This means you can open the cylinder valve before starting the compressor rather than having to build line pressure first.
 
Inline Installation
The male-male configuration is designed to be fitted directly inline in the filling hose between the compressor and the cylinder.
 
The fitting has a marked flow direction. The arrow must point towards the cylinder being filled.
If you are using an inline dry pack/filter, install the one-way valve after the filter. This allows the air to pass through the drying filter before reaching the non-return valve and ultimately the cylinder.
 
The order should therefore be:
Compressor → Dry Pack/Filter → One-Way Valve → Cylinder
 
Using the Connector
Install the connector inline between the compressor and cylinder.
Check that the flow arrow points towards the cylinder.
Ensure all bleed valves are closed.
Slowly open the cylinder valve.
Start the compressor according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The one-way valve prevents cylinder pressure from travelling backwards towards the compressor.
Once compressor pressure reaches cylinder pressure, the valve opens automatically and filling continues.
When the cylinder is full, close the cylinder valve.
Bleed both sides of the fitting before disconnecting.
 
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for your compressor, cylinder and filling equipment, including their specified pressure limits.
