Pre-Fired BSA Lightning CLX Walnut .177 Break Barrel Air Rifle
The BSA Lightning CLX is already a well-known name in the spring-powered world, but finding one with a walnut stock is a different proposition altogether.
The walnut version had a relatively short production run, with issues surrounding the walnut stocks and the difficulty of shipping them making them considerably less common than the more familiar beech-stocked Lightning. As a result, this is now a genuinely unusual version of the Lightning CLX.
The rifle itself combines the familiar break-barrel action with that much more premium-looking walnut stock, and this example is paired with a Vector Optics Veyron 3-12x44 rather than the sort of bargain-bin scope often thrown onto a springer.
That's a particularly worthwhile addition here. The Veyron uses an etched reticle, giving it a more robust and durable reticle system than the basic wire-reticle scopes commonly found on entry-level spring rifle packages. It's a scope worth keeping even if you eventually move it onto another rifle.
What’s Included

- No significant condition issues noted
The Important Bit
This is a used rifle, but the condition is good for its age. There are some marks on both the stock and metalwork, but nothing particularly unusual for a rifle that has actually been used.
The real appeal here is the specification. The walnut-stocked Lightning CLX is considerably less common than the beech version, and the included Veyron 3-12x44 is a substantial upgrade over the basic optics normally found on springer packages.
As with all Pre-Fired rifles, the condition grade is our assessment of the rifle as it stands. It has had a previous owner and is sold without warranty.
Final Word
A BSA Lightning CLX with a walnut stock is already something a little different. Add a proper Vector Optics Veyron 3-12x44 and you've got a springer package that is considerably more interesting than the usual rifle-and-cheap-scope combination.
The walnut makes this one of the rarer Lightning variants, while the Veyron gives it an optic that is actually worth keeping rather than something you're likely to replace five minutes after buying the rifle.
A traditional break-barrel air rifle, a good-looking walnut stock and a genuinely useful scope. What's not to like?
