Pre-Fired BSA Meteor MK1 .22 Break Barrel Air Rifle
A proper bit of British airgun history, this BSA Meteor MK1 dates from the 1960s and would make an interesting addition to a vintage airgun collection.
This example was originally destined for our archive, but it's not exactly perfect. There is a crack around the trigger area, and the stock appears to have been pinned around this section to prevent the split from progressing. It's clearly had some attention over the years, so we're treating it as a collector's piece rather than pretending it's a pristine survivor.
One of the nicer features is that it still retains its original iron sights, which adds considerably to its appeal as a vintage example.
It's also in .22, which is generally the less sought-after calibre compared with the .177 versions. That does, however, mean you can get into a genuine 1960s BSA Meteor for rather less money.

This is a collector's piece, and the damage around the trigger area is the reason for the special grading.
There is a visible crack and evidence that the stock has been pinned in this area to prevent further splitting. We haven't represented this as a restored or perfect vintage rifle because it isn't one.
With old airguns, repairs, modifications, dents, scratches and the general effects of several decades of existence are all part of the story. This one simply wears its history a little more openly than some.
The .22 calibre also makes it less desirable to some collectors than an equivalent .177 example, which is reflected in the price.

A 1960s BSA Meteor MK1 with its original iron sights is a proper piece of British airgun history.
No, this isn't the nicest Meteor we've ever seen. The crack and previous repair work are very much part of the deal. But if you're more interested in owning an affordable vintage BSA than finding a pristine collector-grade survivor, that's exactly where this one starts to make sense.
The .22 calibre may make it the less fashionable sister to the .177, but it also makes it a cheaper way into owning one of these classic Meteors.
