The Remington T-Rex Synthetic Sporter is a straightforward, affordable PCP air rifle that focuses on the bits that actually matter while keeping the price down.

This is very much a no-frills sporter. There is no attempt to turn it into a competition rifle or cover it in unnecessary features. Instead, you get a regulated PCP action, a useful 230cc air cylinder, 250 bar maximum fill pressure, multi-shot operation and a decent rail setup, all wrapped up in a practical synthetic stock.

The regulator is particularly useful at this price point. It helps provide more consistent performance through the usable portion of the air charge and can improve the number of useful shots compared with similarly sized unregulated rifles.

The 230cc cylinder fills to 250 bar and provides approximately 100 shots per fill, although actual shot count will vary depending on calibre, power, temperature and shooting conditions.

Simple, Practical Layout

The T-Rex uses a semi-straight-pull side-lever action with a bolt that can be configured for either left- or right-handed operation. It uses a self-indexing multi-shot magazine, while a single-shot tray is included when you want to load individual pellets.

There is approximately 145mm of Picatinny rail available for optics, with a 16mm section omitted around the magazine well. A lower Picatinny rail provides a straightforward mounting point for a bipod or other compatible accessory.

Despite its budget-focused design, Snowpeak has also fitted the T-Rex with an integral silencer and fibre-optic iron sights, so you are not left with a rifle that requires a shopping list of extras before it can be used.

A basic 3-9x40 scope is included, although we'd consider this more of a free extra than a reason to buy the rifle. The T-Rex itself is the interesting bit.

Synthetic Sporter Stock

The synthetic sporter stock keeps the rifle relatively straightforward and practical. At 3.14kg, it is not the lightest PCP around, but the weight is perfectly reasonable for a full-size sporter. It also has an adjustable cheekpiece for more advanced eye placement customisation over traditional non-adjustable options.

With a 360mm length of pull and 1.28kg stated trigger weight, it is designed as a conventional, uncomplicated sporting rifle rather than a highly adjustable precision platform.

If you are looking for an affordable PCP that gives you the fundamentals without paying for a long list of features you may never use, the T-Rex makes a lot of sense.
