April Staff Picks: Spring Gear, Small Chaos, Big Opinions

Vector Air "Staff Picks" badge on a black and orange gradient background. White text with laurel wreath border, evokes professionalism.

April Staff Picks

April is one of those months where everything seems to happen at once. Somewhere in the world there’s always a headline involving oil prices doing something dramatic, a vaguely cinematic theft of KitKats, and humanity reaching new milestones in space travel again.

Closer to home, North Nottinghamshire (Sherwood Forest if we’re being poetic about it) has been doing its usual thing. The AP900 restock landed last week, and as expected, it did not last long. Luke has also been back on camera duty getting more pre-fired stock onto the website. The remaining bits will follow once Karl finishes inspecting them, which is a process that can best be described as “Occasionally theatrical”.

Anyway, onto what you actually came for.

Tee: Bug-A-Salt Pink Passion Edition 3.0 Fly Hunting Gun

Pink and black Bug-A-Salt gun on a white background, with orange accents.

Spring arrives, the flies return, and so does Tee’s annual commitment to turning household pest control into something that looks like it belongs in a lifestyle magazine.

The Bug-A-Salt Pink Passion 3.0 is back in stock, mostly because people keep buying them as gifts and then realising they also want one. It’s simple, effective, and slightly ridiculous in the best possible way.

She’s also insisted that if you’re doing it properly, you may as well add the Bug Beam laser attachment: https://www.vector-air.co.uk/product-page/bug-a-salt-bug-beam-laser-attachment - Does it improve accuracy? Debatable. Does it improve confidence? Absolutely.

Craig: BuckRail MOD Stock with 1913 Clamp & AR Stock Mount

Close-up of a black gun accessory with a textured grip and adjustable sections. A blurred rifle and scope are in the background.

If you’ve spent any time around modern platforms lately, you’ll know 1913 rear interfaces are quietly taking over everything that isn’t nailed down.

Craig’s pick is all about practicality. The BuckRail MOD Stock turns a fixed rear end into something adjustable, foldable, and generally more useful in real-world handling. For compact platforms like the AP900, or newer modular builds like EPIC systems, it just makes sense.

Quick detach, solid lock-up, and far easier storage when you’re not trying to wrestle a full-length setup into a case that clearly wasn’t designed by someone who owns gear.

Karl: Airgun Bell Target MK2 by Tom’s Targets

Metal Target with a round disc and attached black dome bell, set against a white background. Features bolts and a mounting arm.

Karl’s pick this month is refreshingly low-tech, which is usually where things get interesting.

The Bell Target MK2 is exactly what it sounds like. You hit it, it rings. No app, no batteries, no firmware update required at the worst possible moment.

Karl’s only complaint is that the finish feels a bit agricultural, and the packaging isn’t winning design awards anytime soon. But none of that matters once it’s hanging up (or fixed to the floor) and doing its job. A hit is a hit, and this one lets you hear it.

Simple, effective, slightly old-school. Which is probably why it works.

Luke: UMAREX Glock 19X MOS

Tan Glock 19X pistol with a threaded barrel and textured grip against a plain white background. Text on slide: GLOCK 19X AUSTRIA 9x19.

Luke and Glocks don’t usually get on. His general opinion tends to sit somewhere between “too basic” and “why is this also complicated?”.

The 19X MOS, however, gets a reluctant nod of approval.

It’s the crossover FDE model that blends compact ergonomics with modern optics capability, thanks to the MOS mounting system. Threaded muzzle, optics-ready interface, and a finish that avoids the usual sea of black polymer.

In short, it fixes enough of the usual complaints to make it worth a second look. Which, for Luke, is basically a standing ovation.

Final Thoughts

That’s April. A mix of practical upgrades, slightly chaotic pest control solutions, and the occasional bit of gear that exists purely because it’s fun to own.

Same time next month, assuming nothing else goes completely sideways in the meantime.
