Gunpany Barrel Cleaning Rod Combo Kit (SCCK-10)

Rating is 5.0 out of five stars based on 1 review
£20.00Price
Quantity

A barrel cleaning kit for .177 and .22 calibre airguns, giving you everything needed to maintain accuracy without buying individual cleaning tools.

Unlike firearms, airguns do not benefit from constant barrel cleaning. In fact, over-cleaning can reduce accuracy. Lead pellets gradually leave a thin coating inside the bore that helps seal the pellet against the rifling, a process commonly referred to as "leading" the barrel.

For most airguns, the best accuracy is often achieved after approximately 500 to 1,000 shots. If groups begin to open up after extended use, it is usually a sign that excessive lead fouling has built up. At that point, a thorough clean allows you to start the leading process again and restore accuracy.

This kit provides everything required to clean both .177 and .22 calibre barrels, whether you're removing factory oils from a brand-new rifle or carrying out routine maintenance after heavy use.

Features

  • Suitable for .177 and .22 calibre airguns
  • Ideal for removing factory oils from new barrels
  • Helps remove lead fouling when accuracy begins to deteriorate
  • Two rod lengths for rifles and pistols
  • Bronze brush for stubborn fouling
  • Cotton mop for final cleaning
  • Patch holder and cleaning patches included
  • Spring brush for general maintenance
  • Protective muzzle guard helps prevent crown damage

When should you clean an airgun barrel?

Unlike powder-burning firearms, airgun barrels generally perform best once they have been lightly leaded.

As a guide:

  • New rifle: Clean to remove manufacturing oils if required.
  • First 500-1,000 shots: Allow the barrel to lead naturally.
  • Accuracy starts to decline: Clean the barrel to remove built-up lead fouling, then allow it to lead again.

Cleaning after every shooting session is generally unnecessary and may actually reduce consistency.

Includes

  • Cleaning Rods with Handle
  • 1025mm (40") Cleaning Rod
  • 1190mm (47") Cleaning Rod
  • Bronze Brush
  • Cotton Mop
  • Spring Brush
  • Patch Holder
  • Muzzle Guard
  • Cleaning Jags
  • Empty Oil Bottle
  • Cleaning Patches

We recommend: Using your preferred airgun barrel cleaner, such as VA40, with the supplied patches and cleaning accessories.

      Hi Mike,

Thanks for the review — glad the Gunpany cleaning kit is doing the job. We rate these rods as a great, affordable option: decent build, sensible kit, and they last a good while for routine maintenance.

One quick tip we always remind customers of — take care around breech seals when using rods so you don’t accidentally nick them. Other than that, it sounds like it’s hitting expectations.
