Walther Rotex RM8 Synthetic Regulated Bolt Action PCP Air Rifle by UMAREX
The Walther Rotex RM8 has earned its reputation by focusing on the parts that matter most. At its heart is the same proven German-made action found across the RM8 range, pairing a genuine Lothar Walther barrel with one of the best rotary magazine systems available. The result is an air rifle capable of exceptional consistency, whether you're punching paper on the range or controlling pests from a static position.
Unlike many self-indexing magazines that rely on spring tension, the RM8 uses a true rotary magazine. Every time the bolt is cycled, the rifle itself rotates the magazine into position before the pellet is chambered. This allows the pellet to travel into the breech in a straight line rather than being forced through whilst the magazine is still turning, reducing the chance of pellet damage and helping maintain excellent accuracy.
German Lothar Walther Barrel: The 500mm genuine Lothar Walther 12-groove choked barrel is one of the biggest reasons the RM8 has become so well respected. Renowned worldwide for producing exceptionally accurate barrels, it provides the foundation for the rifle's outstanding precision.
Regulated Performance: The regulated 200cc air cylinder delivers its most consistent performance between 200 and 100 BAR. The regulator helps maintain stable velocities throughout its working pressure while also increasing the usable shot count compared to similarly sized unregulated rifles.
Rotary Magazine System: The RM8's 8-shot rotary magazine remains one of the nicest systems to use. Because the rifle rotates the magazine during the cocking cycle instead of relying on spring-loaded indexing, pellets are presented cleanly to the breech for smooth, straight chambering.
Hard-Wearing Synthetic Thumbhole Stock: This version replaces the traditional timber stock with a robust synthetic thumbhole design. The thumbhole grip provides a comfortable wrist position during longer shooting sessions, while the synthetic construction is far better suited to working rifles that spend their lives in fields, barns and pickup trucks rather than inside a cabinet.
Integrated Picatinny Accessory Rail: Unlike the beech version, the synthetic model includes a Picatinny accessory rail beneath the forend. This makes fitting bipods, torches and other accessories simple without the need for aftermarket adaptors, making it particularly appealing for professional pest controllers.
Ready for Your Choice of Moderator: The precision barrel is threaded 1/2" UNF, allowing you to fit the moderator that best suits your shooting without being tied to proprietary accessories.

Who is the RM8 Synthetic for?
If the Beech model is the traditional sporting rifle, the Synthetic RM8 is the working gun. Its weather-resistant stock, thumbhole grip and integrated Picatinny rail make it particularly well suited to professional pest control, especially from hides or static shooting positions where a bipod or other accessories can be fully utilised. It is just as capable on the target range, but its tougher furniture makes it the version you'll worry least about when the weather inevitably decides you're shooting in Britain.
Important Notice for the Purchase and Delivery of Airguns, Pressure Components of Airguns, and Moderators
Effective Compliance with the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (VCRA): Sections 31 and 32
Under the provisions of Sections 31 and 32 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, which were enacted through "The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No 3) Order 2007: firearms measures," specific regulations now apply to air weapons, their Pressure-Bearing component parts, and certain accessories.
Key Points to Note:
Restricted Items:
- Airguns: All airguns are classified as restricted items.
- Pressure-Bearing Parts of Airguns: This includes barrels, cylinders, reservoirs, and pistons.
- Functional Moderators (Silencers/Suppressors): Moderators that reduce the sound of discharge are also classified as restricted items.
Definition and Registration:
- Component Parts: While the VCRA does not explicitly define "component parts," the Home Office interprets this to include pressure-bearing parts such as barrels, cylinders, reservoirs, and pistons.
- Accessories: Only moderators (silencers) require registration by dealers.
Legal Requirements for Transfer:
- In-Person Transfer: It is an offence under the VCRA to transfer these restricted items through standard postal systems or to the end customer directly without the presence of both the buyer and either the seller or a representative of the seller.
- Representatives of the Seller: This can be:
- An employee of the seller who is a registered firearms dealer (RFD).
- Another RFD authorized by the seller.
- An employee of the authorized RFD.
Collection and Delivery Options:
- Collection from Store: Customers are encouraged to collect their restricted items directly from the store where purchased.
- Transfer to Another RFD: Items can be transferred to a local RFD for collection, though the receiving RFD may charge a fee for this service.
- Home Delivery: We offer home delivery through our in-house team to some areas of the UK. However, please note that this service has location restrictions and incurs higher costs due to the need for dedicated transport, making it more expensive than a standard RFD transfer.
